From KL Skies to Hoi An Sunsets

After a vibrant stretch in Kuala Lumpur with its glittering skyline, endless food discoveries, and beautifully layered culture we’re packing our bags once again and heading somewhere that already feels like home: Hoi An, Vietnam.
There’s something special about returning to a place you love. The anticipation feels different. It’s softer, deeper less about ticking off sights and more about settling in, reconnecting, and rediscovering familiar streets in a new season of life.

This time, we’re not just passing through. We’re looking for a place to rent for a few months somewhere comfortable, light-filled, and close enough to cycle between the rice fields and the sea. A small house or apartment where mornings begin with Vietnamese coffee and evenings end with lantern-lit strolls. The beauty of slow travel is in creating rhythm finding your local bakery, learning the names of your neighbours, knowing exactly when the tide shifts at An Bang.
Hoi An has a way of pulling you in gently. The Old Town, with its mustard-yellow walls and silk lanterns, feels timeless. Early mornings are our favourite when the streets are quiet, the light is golden, and the reflections ripple across the Thu Bon River. It’s a dream for photography, and we’re already looking forward to wandering with our cameras, chasing shadows, textures, and the everyday poetry of life unfolding.

Then there’s An Bang breezy, laid-back, and wonderfully unhurried. Afternoons drift by with sandy feet, salt in the air, and long lunches by the sea. The contrast between beach life and Old Town charm is part of what makes Hoi An so magnetic. And just beyond, the surrounding countryside opens up into rice paddies, fishing villages, hidden cafés, and quiet backroads perfect for two wheels and spontaneous detours.
We’re excited for the photo adventures ahead sunrise shoots in the fields, blue hour along the river, stormy skies rolling in over the coast. But more than that, we’re looking forward to the feeling of being rooted again, even temporarily. To slowing down. To creating. To living in a place that inspires us daily.
Kuala Lumpur gave us energy and momentum. Hoi An promises softness and soul.
And we can’t wait to settle back in.
