What begins as a family holiday rarely stays just that not when the Fuji is in your bag and one of the world's most visually rich cities is unfolding outside the hotel window. This project was born from five days in Hong Kong with no brief, no client, and no itinerary beyond spending time together as a family on a visa run away from our base in Hoi An, Vietnam. The photography came second. But it came nonetheless.
Armed with a single camera the Fujifilm X100VI and nothing else, the goal was simple: absorb the city honestly. The iconic red taxis cutting through rain-slicked streets. The controlled chaos of the wet markets at dawn. The neon-lit temple doorways and the quiet rituals happening just beneath the tourist gaze. Everyday Hong Kong, shot from the inside of a holiday rather than a dedicated shoot.
The X100VI handled everything as always stills and video in a form factor unobtrusive enough to blend into family life without drawing attention on the street. That constraint became the creative engine. One focal length. One body. Every image earned in the margins of sightseeing, between dim sum and the Peak Tram, alongside harbour walks and market stalls.
The result is an honest document of a city that rewards the unhurried eye: layered, dense, perpetually alive and surprisingly intimate when you stop trying to photograph it and simply let it happen around you.
